# The Farmland Atlas — Full Reference > A global atlas of farmland viability. Every place on Earth scored on objective > climate, soil, water, terrain and governance data, across three time horizons > (2050, 2070, 2100) and four global-warming scenarios each. ## What it is The Farmland Atlas is an interactive world map that answers one question for every location on Earth: how good will this place be to farm and live on as the climate changes? It scores the entire globe from public biophysical and institutional datasets, projected across three time horizons and four warming scenarios, so the outlook is objective and comparable everywhere. ## Three lenses The atlas scores each place through three views: - **Land** — hard biophysical data: climate, soil, water and terrain. The physical fundamentals of whether a place can grow things and sustain life. - **Institutions** — the human layer: country-, region- and city-specific governance, institutions and access. Whether you can actually own, reach and rely on a place. - **Everything** — the two combined, for an all-in view of where land is genuinely worth holding for the long term. ## Time horizons & scenarios Every score is available for **2050, 2070 and 2100**, each under **four global-warming scenarios**. This shows not only where is good today, but how a place trends as warming unfolds, and how robust it is across a range of optimistic-to-severe futures. ## The five main criteria Places are scored on five headline lines — **climate, soil, water, terrain and governance** — which roll up into the composite score. Each field-note card breaks a location down across these lines. ## Who it's for - **Land buyers and people moving to the countryside** — find where you can build a generational place that still works decades from now. - **Existing landowners** — see how your own location holds up, or shifts, with time and climate change. - **Investors** — compare regions objectively on long-horizon fundamentals. - **Farmers** — understand the biophysical trajectory of an area. - **Map lovers** — 20+ data layers to explore, toggle and combine. ## Features - **Global objective scoring** — every place on Earth, for 2050 / 2070 / 2100 across four warming scenarios, through the Land / Institutions / Everything lenses. - **Custom filter** — 30+ criteria to narrow the entire map down to only the land that matches what you're looking for (climate, water, terrain, governance, access and more). - **Field-note cards** — click any spot for the full underlying data at that location, across all criteria and horizons. - **Exportable field cards** — generate a shareable card showing how a place ranks in 2050 / 2070 / 2100 on the five main criteria lines. - **20+ map layers** — biophysical and human data layers you can switch between and overlay. - **Concierge service** — order hands-on help deciding where to buy land. - **API / CLI (in development)** — a programmatic interface so AI agents can search for land on your behalf. ## Advertising The atlas has **four ad slots** open for advertisers who want to reach an audience of land buyers, farmers, investors and relocators. A public API/CLI is in progress — until it ships there is no documented programmatic endpoint. Check back or enquire via the site for access.
